Dinosaur World
Overview
Located in Plant City, Florida, between Orlando and Tampa, Dinosaur World features more than 200 life-sized dinosaurs. Dinosaur World is Central Florida’s only dinosaur themed attraction. With over 20 acres to explore, visitors will spend the day wandering among some of the planet’s most feared (former) predators. Dinosaur World offers visitors a beautiful natural, forest-like setting combined with the convenience of paved walkways. At Dinosaur World, visitors encounter a unique array of dinosaurs and a variety of diverse and unusual species.
Why It’s Popular
Dinosaur World is popular for a variety of reasons. The highly affordable general admission rates offer visitors access to more than 200 life sized dinosaurs in addition to the park’s various shows and exhibits. Among the park’s most popular exhibits is Central Florida’s only interactive bone yard, a giant fossil playground. Also popular is Dinosaur World’s Prehistoric museum, which features an awe-inspiring collection of animatronic dinosaurs, prehistoric dinosaur eggs, and raptor claws, as well as many more dinosaur and fossil related items.
Additional activities, like the Fossil Dig and the Dino Gem Excavation, are also available for a small fee. Another great feature of Dinosaur World is that, unlike most other theme park attractions, visitors are not bombarded with vendors hawking food and drink at every turn. In fact, there is no food service available in the park. Instead, Dinosaur World encourages park visitors to pack a picnic lunch and “Dine with the Dinos.” Another great in-park dining option is pizza delivery.
Who Loves It?
Who doesn’t love dinosaurs? The fascination that these gigantic creatures from the depths of time hold for children, adults, laypeople, scientists, and movie makers cannot be denied. If the popularity of the recent remake of the film Jurassic Park is any indication, it would seem that the public’s ongoing fascination with all things dinosaur related is not set to end any time soon. Children will be both delighted and awed by the many massive dinosaur reconstructions, not to mention the life-like animatronic dinos they meet at Dinosaur World. Adults will enjoy the park’s lush garden-like setting nearly as much as they enjoy the dinosaurs themselves.
